Mother's Day | Celebrating Mom from Afar

Angela von Detten

Hi Friends! Adjusting to our new "normal" during this pandemic means approaching basically everything differently...including the way we celebrate holidays! With Mother's day only a few days away, many of us unfortunately can not be there physically celebrating like we normally would...But that doesn't mean gift- giving is cancelled. Fortunately, in the age of technology, there are still many ways you can honor your mom on this special day. I have put together a list of some creative and thoughtful gift ideas she will love. Be sure to let me know if you go with any of these!

Cooking Classes Online

For the mom who wants to sharpen her skills!

Whether she is a mixologist in the making or she is ready to take her baking skills to the next level. Master Class offers virtual learning from some of the top names in the culinary world.

There are a wide variety of classes to choose from...Texas Style BBQ, Modern Italian Cooking, Mexican Cooking, Seafood, French Pastry Fundamentals, and more! I know I want to try "Resturant Recipies at Home" with Gordon Ramsay myself! This gift is sure to wow (and let's face it, you will reap the benefits with delicious meals!)

Host a Wine or Beer Tasting

For the mom who aspires to be a Som!

Send mom a sampler pack of single-serve wines or beers so you can both sip and share thoughts on on flavor, body, and aroma.

There are many ways you can do a video call with your mom on Mother's Day (Facetime, Skype, Zoom, etc.), so why not set aside some time and schedule a date for both of you to enjoy? Seeing each other face to face virtually and spending some time with one another could really make it feel like you are together in person again!

Check out your favorite local breweries/ wineries selection for delivery or head over to Drizly and check out the selection avaliable locally.

DIY Skincare

For the mom who loves feeling pampered!

Bring the spa home with these budget friendly DIY skincare treatments- that can be easily made straight from your kitchen!

My personal favorites are the exfoliating sugar face scrub and the brightening blueberry face mask! From different face masks to body scrubs- you can't go wrong with these skincare recipies! Above all, during times like this, your mom will appreciate a well deserved and relaxing spa day- especially when all the products are made with love by you!

Send a Celebrity Shout Out

For the mom who loves reality TV!

Check out Cameo, the online platform where you can book a personalized video message from a range of talent of your choosing.

While mom would love to see your face on Mother's Day, she will be tickled pink if her favorite reality show star, comic, or musician sends her a special Mother's Day shout-out.

Cameo has also launched a COVID-19 Relief Campaign in which its donating proceeds from select video requests towards coronavirus efforts. Request a Cameo here!

Create Your Own eCard

For the mom who loves greeting cards!

Creating your own Mother's Day card online can be a great alternative to having to run into the store and dig through to find the perfect one. Sending her a card that you will personalize yourself will put a big smile on her face!

With a wide variety of templates to choose from, I'm sure you'll be able to find one she will love that matches her style! A heartwarming and thoughtful note that expresses all of your compassion and gratitude towards her will definitely brighten up her day.

Check out Paperless PostBlue Mountain, and Canva to customize your card!
